PTE 테스트 Speaking 유형에는 크게 Read Aloud (RA), Repeat Sentence (RS), Describe Image (DI), Re-tell Lecture (RL) , 그리고 Answer Short Question (ASQ) 다섯 가지 유형이 있습니다.
저는 한 달동안 2번의 PTE 시험을 보았고, 다른 영역보다 상대적으로 스피킹 영역 점수가 부족했기 때문에 다음 시험을 일주일 정도 앞두고, 개인적으로 그 중에서도 가장 점수가 잘 오르지 않는 Describe Image (DI) 을 확실하게 짚고 넘어가려고 합니다.
Describe Image (DI) 는 Read Aloud (RA), Repeat Sentence (RS) 다음으로 배점이 큰 유형으로 스피킹 테스트에서 3-5개의 문제가 출제됩니다.

주어진 유형의 사진이나 표 등을 살펴보며 25초동안 답변을 준비하고, 40초동안 녹음을 하면 되는데요. 여기서 항상 염두해야 하는 부분은 PTE 시험의 채점 방식을 살펴보면 Content, Pronunciation, Fluency, 3가지로 구분되므로 답변을 할 때 이 부분을 항상 기억해야 합니다.

다른 분들은 DI 영역을 인터넷에서 쉽게 찾을 수 있는 템플렛을 이용하여 답변하시면 점수도 잘 받으시는 것 같던데 저는 왠지 점수가 잘 나오지 않더라구요. 그래서, 제 성격대로... 아주 답답하지만, FM 방식으로 이 유형에 대한 이해를 돕는 유튜브 영상을 몇 개 찾아보며 도움을 얻었습니다. (참고했던 영상의 링크는 아래에 있으니, 참고하세요! )
DI 답변을 위해서 지켜야 할 포인트로는 크게 세가지가 있습니다.

답변의 구조는 소개, 설명, 그리고 결론으로 이루어져야 합니다.
예) introduce : The bar graph represents ( The title of the graph), including (additional information in the X-AXIS).
describe : a steady decline/highest/lowest/...
conclusion: in conclusion, it can be seen that ~
2. Keep it simple :
This is a speaking task. Demonstrate your speaking, NOT your statistical analysis.
Use simple language that you know well. Avoid unfamiliar vocabulary, speak clearly, confidently and accurately.
당연한 부분인데도, 제가 간과했던 부분이에요. 기억해야하는 것은, 스피킹 능력을 평가하기 위한 영역이지, 통계분석능력을 평가하는 게 아닙니다! 분석하려 들지 마세요. 가능한 한 심플한 언어로 익숙한 단어를 정확하고 명확하게 전달하는 것이 가장 중요합니다. 내용보다는 유창성과 발음에 중점을 두는 게 맞아요.
3. Keep going :
전달하려고 했던 내용이 조금 틀려도 괜찮습니다. 당황하거나 버벅대지 말고, 다시 돌아가지 말고 아무일도 없었던 것처럼, 답변을 이어나가세요.!!!

모델 답변:
This line graph represents the number of music albums sold by format in the United States from 2011 to 2021 including CD, digital dand LP.
There was a steady decline in CD sales over the years, dropping from about 240 million at the start of the period to less than 50 million by 2021.
While sales of digital music rose slightly at the start of the period, they then fell steadily.
As for LP sales, it was relatively stable over the period before a late surge around 2019.
Overall, CD and digital sales have fallen considerably.
